A Cozy Early Spring Wedding in Cathedral Hall
Hanah and Josh were married this past March in University Club’s Cathedral Hall, where the room overfilled with the joy of 200 of their friends and family members reuniting for the first time in a good while! Their wedding weekend was two of our favorite things: incredibly beautiful, and incredibly personal. Life in Bloom captured their soft and romantic floral style, with ample greenery, garlands, and candelabras with taper candles to really round out the moody feeling, while the couple included touches of home, like custom Funko figurines and XO Art & Design‘s watercolor cat portrait bar signs. As Hanah is a teacher with a very close relationship with her students, they used new technology norms to their advantage and asked Poetic Productions to facilitate a “Zoom First Look” with her classes, so they could all share a special moment with their teacher. Mark Trela was there to capture the day, which were are so happy to be able to share with you here.

Hanah and Josh have the distinction of being one of our first couples who planned a wedding without being blindsided by the pandemic, or having to change their date or venue. It was really special to feel like we were getting back to a more 2019-style planning process! We met them on the recommendation of a past Mother of the Bride, who we are forever grateful for introducing us. From the moment they stepped foot into Chicago’s very own “Hogwarts Castle”, they knew it was the perfect setting for their romantic vision. It was an absolute joy to work together!

Kind Words from the Bride
“We love A Fresh Event! We started working with them in October 2020 when we got engaged. Given the circumstances, we weren’t sure how to plan a wedding during COVID, but Jen and Rachel were so helpful! … They saw our vision from the beginning (even when we struggled to!) and we had a beautiful wedding this past March. Rachel was our main planner and she was extraordinary! She is so organized and handles even the smallest of details. The day of, she is there for anything — including when my dress broke at one point! She didn’t hesitate to literally sew me back in! We will continue to recommend them to anybody getting married!” (Read Hanah’s full review and more on The Knot!)

Congratulations, Hanah and Josh! We wish you (and Margo, and Fitz) all the best in the years ahead!
